Arthur Foote
(b. Salem, MA , 5 March 1853; d. Boston, 8 April 1937).
American composer. He studied with Paine at Harvard (1870-75), then became a highly regarded teacher and organist and leading figure in Boston musical life. His music, often reflective in tone, consists mostly of chamber and choral pieces, piano music and songs; his Suite in E for strings (1907) and A Night Piece for flute and strings (1922) were popular in his lifetime.
