Atahualpa Yupanqui was a prominent folk music singer, guitarist and composer from Pergamino, Argentina. Born in 1908, Yupanqui captured the hearts of his countrymen due to his rustic-inspired folk tales as well as deep philisophical musings often found in his lyrics. Rising to fame in the 1930's, He spent his life writing books about indigeounous South American cultures as well as releasing popular compositions such as "Viene Clareando", "El Arriero", "Zamba del Grillo", and "Milonga del Peón de Campo". 1999 saw the release of the "El Ultimo Recital" LP.
