Carlos Montoya
Carlos Montoya was a key figure in the Flamenco guitar world. He was born in 1903, in Madrid, Spain, and by the age of 14 he was playing concerts across the world. He moved to New York City during World War II, where he toured on his own, and with dancer La Argentina He was known for his idiosyncratic guitar style, which was not enjoyed by everyone. His greatest influenece was the obscure guitarist Currito de la Geroma. He died in 1993, at the age of 89. His unique style can be heard on an album under his own name, entitled "Flamenco!".
