Dabrye is Michigan's Tadd Mullinix, a Detroit techno whiz kid and self-described hermit. Dabrye's sound is bleepy funk -- warm muted guitar and filtered bass with blips and zips that keeps the beat tripping along. Mullinix debuted Dabrye in 2001 on Ghostly International with "One/Three." "Hyped-Up Plus Tax" was featured in a Motorola commercial and helped expose this minimal techno sound to a wider audience. Mullinix also records as James Cotton, and cites influences as diverse as Reich, Timbaland, Kraftwerk and Fela Kuti.
