Dripping Lips
Although it's doubtful that the song "Damn You" is meant to be taken as an allusion to those grimly fiendish first-wave Punk rockers the Damned, one's tempted to think so since Dripping Lips is headed up by former Damned guitarist Brian James. Dripping Lips is anything but an extended version of James' first band, however, as the sonic distance between the two is immense. An older (and perhaps nicer, if the new sound is any indication) James and company visit plenty of landmarks on the music map, alighting in fields of folk, and twang-strewn bogs of bluesy rock. And while pure Punk may not be the flavor of choice for Dripping Lips, high-powered, guitar driven songs still dominate a repertoire peppered with Punk gleanings and folk overtones.
