Bristol's Experimental Pop Band are a curious blend of pop, Trip-Hop and Soul who have no qualms about living up to their title. Following their 1996 debut, they were looked upon as a source of intelligent hipster pop for those who enjoy their music melting pot-style. Combining the Indie Singer-Songwriter aesthetic with the more slippery, genre-hopping styles of DJ culture, the Experimental Pop Band represent a more Punk version of Beck, albeit English. Davey Woodward's claustrophobic, laconic vocals may be more approachable to those on the right side of the Atlantic, but the accompanying music is a thick potluck stew suitable for anyone with a taste for colorful eclecticism.
