This sterling meeting between tight-lipped altoist Hodges and the cool baritone sax player is almost up to the peerless standard of Mulligan's previous sax duet album with Ben Webster. While the whole session brims over with good humor and buoyant swagger, Mulligan crafted the bittersweet "What's the Rush" for Hodges' exquisite ballad style.
