Goo Goo Dolls Let in the Love

New York rockers return with album written in Masonic lodge

Last year, Goo Goo Dolls frontman and Los Angeles transplant Johnny Rzeznik spent six months in his native Buffalo, writing and jamming in a Masonic lodge downtown. "The building was a hundred years old, kind of creepy but really cool," says Rzeznik.

Back in L.A., the group teamed with Alanis Morissette producer Glen Ballard for eleven tracks that merge the Goos' melodic pop sound with Cure-like electronic flourishes. The resulting tracks became the band's latest, Let Love In, due April 18th.

Rzeznik says his lyrics on Love draw on that trip home to upstate New York. "It was interesting, because every corner I turned there was some memory -- whether it was good or bad -- that brought up a lot of feelings."

The Goo Goo Dolls' last album, 2002's Gutterflower, hit Number Four on the chart.
