Releasing their first single in 1978, Human League were the first international Synth Pop stars. Human League's early lineup formed a dark, experimental outfit. Half of the members soon left to form BEF and Heaven 17. Philip Oakey replaced his departed bandmates with two naive girls from a disco, facilitating a shift to unadulterated pop.
