James Moody was born in 1925 in Savannah, Georgia. He played the flute and the saxophone, he was a singer, a composer and a band leader too. Moody was raised in Pennsylvania and New Jersey. When he joined the Armed Forces he played in the Military Band during World War II. After the war Moody played for the famous Dizzy Gillespie. Between 1949 and 1951 he lived in Europe. At that time James Moody recorded a version of "I'm In The Mood For Love" which made him a more than a little famous or a while. Moody also recorded the album "Moody Plays Mancini" which was re-released in 1997.
