Lillian Boutte
Lillian Boutte is one of the most underrated New Orleans jazz and blues singers of her time. She soulfully and effortlessly interweaves between swampy, Cajun rhythm and blues songs and old traditional Dixieland standards. Another salient attribute of her vocal gift is Boutte's ability to transcend a heavy dose of raw spirituality into any song that she touches (an acquired birthmark from her days as a young girl singing in a gospel troupe). In this way, her streamlined inflections often instantaneously morph into rootsy wailing stomp-a-longs that leave the listener wide eyed and cleansed inside.
