Punk rockers New Found Glory honed their melodic skills playing gigs along the East Coast and in Florida. The band's title was thought up by members Jordan Pundik and Steve Klein while working at Red Lobster. "A" was dropped from the beginning of the band name after reports of fans having difficult finding their music in stores. Only a year after forming, they won Florida's Slammie award for best new band in 1998. The group covered the themes from "The Karate Kid," "Titanic" and "The Never Ending Story" on a 2000 release.
