In 1997 the band began with cover songs and then experimented with melodic punk originals in a suburban Chicago basement. Prior to getting signed, several songs from "Come on Over" were featured on MTV's "Undressed." After eight years, lead singer and cofounder Tom Higgenson is the only original member remaining. He was nearly killed in an automobile accident in 1999, resulting in a newfound appreciation for life and writing songs. The song "Radios in Heaven" is about lead singer Tom Higginson's great-grandmother, who passed away.
