During the pop metal boom of the 1980s, Ratt were considered one of the major players, with hits on both the radio and MTV. Ratt began in San Diego in 1978 and was originally called Mickey Ratt. They shortened the name around 1982. That's the legendary metal babe Tawny Kitaen (Whitesnake video) crawling around on the cover of "Out Of the Cellar." Famed UFO and Scorpions guitarist Michael Schenker joined Ratt for a short time in 1990, but the band broke up in '91. Ratt's big song, "Round and Round," was a No. 12 hit in 1984.
