Despite their harder-edged approach, the Dream Syndicate were lumped in with other LA bands dubbed the Paisley Underground.
Bassist Kendra Smith went on to join Opal, which mutated into Mazzy Star after Hope Sandoval replaced her.
Though signed to a major for their second LP, none of their releases ever matched the impact of their debut.
