The Fiery Furnaces are a brother and sister duo who make indie rock synth prog epics about pirates and blueberries.
Matthew and Eleanor Friedberger grew up in Illinois, but relocated to New York in 2000.
Inspired by the Who, Led Zeppelin, Os Mutantes and a variety of other strange musical entities, they began recording in 2002.
Odd narratives and travelogues make up most of their lyrics, although they do dip into alliterative nonsense now and then.
