Filmmaker, comedian and musician, Woody Allen was born in New York in 1935. After working as a writer and comedian for a number of years, Allen made his film debut in 1965 with "What's New, Pussycat?". He went on to become a celebrated filmmaker, producing many classic movies and winning a number of Academy awards. At the same time as pursuing a career in filmmaking, Allen continued his interest in jazz music, playing clarinet with his trio, whenever time allowed. In 1998, he produced a documentary on the subject called "Wild Man Blues", to which he also recorded a soundtrack.
