Born in 1975 and raised in suburban California, Stacy Ann Ferguson's road to stardom began at the ripe old age of eight when she began her career as a successful TV child actress. In 1991 Fergie decided to try her hand at singing and formed girl group Wild Orchid who released two albums but had little commercial success.
All was not lost though, as her feisty character, enviable looks and distinctive voice unsurprisingly caught the attention of The Black Eyed Peas mastermind Will.i.am who asked Fergie to guest vocal on the band's 2003 album Elephunk. The first single released Where Is The Love (featuring Justin Timberlake) propelled the new Black Eyed Peas into instantaneous global superstardom as the track topped the charts worldwide and became the biggest selling single of 2003. Predictably, Fergie was asked to stay and the group have gone on to sell over 18 million albums and 9 million singles since her addition to the group.
In 2006, while on a break from the Black Eyed Peas, Fergie went on to pursue solo album The Dutchess, which went on to sell three million copies. Consisting of up-tempo, funky pop the album produced five top 5 singles and three No 1s including Big Girls Don't Cry.
