Some say it's the influence of her mother, Soul II Soul singer Melissa Bell. Others suggest it's down to the millions being pumped into promotion for pop's newest princess. Champion of X-Factor 2008, two No.1 singles and a No.1 album - it's been one hell of a year and enough to exhaust anyone - yet Alexandra Burke shows no sign of slowing down. Upon winning the fifth series of Britain's most popular talent show and swiftly nabbing the Christmas top spot with her cover of Hallelujah, Alexandra was whisked away to the states by Simon Cowell's record label Syco to be preened and polished in preparation for the release of her debut album.

What's more, with some of the music industry's producing royalty getting in on the action, including the likes of The Freemasons, Roc Nation and Jay-Z along with Red One (of Lady Gaga fame), album Overcome certainly had to deliver. First single Bad Boys duly obliged, being an upbeat, get-stuck-in-your-head-for-days collaboration with American rapper Flo Rida. Where Leona is ballad-crazy, Alexandra has plumped for a mix of high-tempo r&b mixed with some slower numbers. However, from the reception Overcome has received, it seems like there's plenty of room for the two gals on both sides of the Atlantic.
