Britney Spears and Foo Fighters Plan VMA Performances, Paul McCartney to DJ on BBC Radio, Busta Rhymes Gets a New Court Date


New details are in about performances at Sunday’s MTV Video Music Awards: According to a report in USA Today, Britney Spears will be singing two songs: “Gimme More,” which debuted last week, and “Cry,” which has not been released to the public, with illusionist Criss Angel. Foo Fighters will be playing with a small army of their friends including System of a Down’s Serj Tankian, Mastodon and Queens of the Stone Age’s Josh Homme and Troy Van Leeuwen. VH1 is casting wannabe rock-star girlfriends for another rock relationship reality show. Though the would-be Romeo has yet to be announced, a casting director describes him as a “Tommy Lee type of rocker,” and invites all interested single women to try out this Saturday in Brooklyn, New York. Paul McCartney, Debbie Harry, Gwen Stefani and Ozzy Osbourne are among the ten artists helping BBC’s Radio 1 celebrate its fortieth anniversary by DJing on a special show called “Radio 1 Legends.” Each musician will play music that inspired him or her starting on September 17th with Sir Paul, whose playlist is expected to include Elvis Presley, Chuck Berry, Jerry Lee Lewis, the Rolling Stones and even some tracks by the Beatles.
