Suburban Rap

Take one well-worn, memorized copy of the Beastie Boys' Licensed to Ill, a handful of rhymes about cruising malls and eating at chain restaurants, a dash of self-deprecating humor, and two cups of attitude for those who doubt that white kids from the suburbs can rap. Stir together and chill. Best served over rock-influenced backing tracks, though samples from well-known rap songs work just as well. Typically, Suburban Rap lyrics tend to be humorous, with more of an emphasis on mischief and tomfoolery than crime confessionals and street philosophies.
